How We Started

Created in 1851, the Wooster Brush Company became the initial paint applicator suppliers in the United States. Adam Foss is the founder of the Wooster Brush Company. He established it after moving from Pennsylvania to Ohio. He began by developing handmade bristle paint brushes. In Wooster, Ohio, he started the business in a 2-story building. The paint brushes were then offered for sale door-to-door all over the state.

The company constructed a cutting edge factory on Madison Avenue in 1909. The building was 70-feet in width by 200-feet in length. This facility provided them three times more space on the floor than previously. This building has become the headquarters location in Wooster, Ohio.

In 2010, William S. Fagert was crowned the company president. He has been working with The Wooster Brush Company since 1985. The organization has only had 9 presidents since its conception.

The company has been performing for 165 years. They have reached various industry milestones including:

Inventing the angle sash brush and the Shasta® model.

The first to offer synthetic fabrics for roller covers. Nowadays, it is deemed an industry-standard.

Created the “Foss-set” practice for cementing bristles into paintbrushes.

Wooster created the Exploded-Tip® design to generate soft flags along the endings of the filaments.

First organization to try nylon filaments to produce brushes for latex paints.

This is why The Wooster Brush Company has grown to become the most inventive developer of brush applicators in the business. Many of the best decorating equipment in the marketplace is made by Wooster Brush. New product models are available annually. This company proudly builds more paint applicator items than any of its high-quality paint production competition. The business employs a “made in America,” mindset and has passed this on down a long time.

Brush Defining Factors

Materials

Combining strong ferrules, comfortable handles, synthetic filaments, the very best bristles from China and sturdy blends is what makes these paint brushes are leaders across the board. The Wooster Brush Company uses the highest-quality things from around the globe to develop its products. If we cannot source the supplies we need, we construct our own.

Tipping

The working end is the most vital component of the paintbrush. How the filament or tip or finish is engineered is directly related to performance. We highly guard our proprietary tip methods, so does every paintbrush company, since the tipping is a huge part of what makes each brand unique.

Taper

Look at the brush along the fringe to discover the taper. Note whether or not this tapers and comes to a point, you will have more control. Tapered filament brushes allow the paint to flow and accomplish better coverage. Pumping the paint onto the surface allows better cutting-in strategies to be generated. While un-tapered or level filament paint brushes are cheaper, they drastically compromise coverage, control and surface capacity.
